Horse Photography in Abu Dhabi
Natural, soulful horse photography for people who know their horse is more than just a horse.
There are horses you ride.
And then there are the horses who become part of your story.
The ones who taught you something. The ones who carried you through difficult days. The ones who know your voice, your touch, your habits. The ones you could recognise from across a field. And years from now, it won't just be their face you'll want to remember.
It will be the way they moved. The way their mane caught the wind. The feeling of standing beside them. The little things only you know about them.
That's what I want to photograph.
I'm Sarah, an equine and animal photographer based in Abu Dhabi, creating natural, emotional horse photography for owners who want photographs that feel like their horse, not just another beautiful equestrian image.
From intimate horse portraits and horse & owner sessions to action photography, stable sessions, desert shoots and equestrian events, I'll create photographs that tell the story of the horse in front of my camera.
Your horse deserves more than a perfect pose

Maybe your horse isn't the easiest horse to photograph. Maybe they won't stand still. Maybe they're more interested in what's happening behind the camera. Maybe they're young, opinionated, playful or simply have their own ideas about how the session should go.
That's okay.
I photograph horses, not statues.
I'm not looking for a horse that can perform perfectly on command. I'm looking for the expression. The movement. The ears. The little quirks. The power. The softness. The relationship between you.
Because when you know a horse well, you know there is so much more to them than standing beautifully for a photograph. And those little pieces of personality are often what make the photographs unforgettable.
Equine photography that tells their story
A horse can be photographed in so many different ways. Sometimes it's the quiet portrait. Sometimes it's a powerful gallop. Sometimes it's you standing beside the horse who changed everything. Sometimes it's a dirty nose, flying mane and absolutely no cooperation whatsoever. Your session doesn't have to fit into one style. We'll create a collection that reflects your horse.

What happens during a horse photography session?
01 — We talk about your horse
Before your session, I'll want to know who we're photographing.
- What's your horse like?
- What do they love?
- Are they confident or nervous?
- Do they have any quirks?
- What kind of photographs are you hoping to create?
- Do you want portraits?
- Action?
- Horse and owner photographs?
- Something dramatic?
- Something natural?
Or a little bit of everything?
This conversation helps me build the session around your horse, rather than trying to make your horse fit a formula.
02 — We choose the right setting
The location can completely change the feeling of your photographs. A stable session can feel intimate and personal. The desert can feel dramatic and powerful. An outdoor location can feel free and adventurous. A beach or coastal setting can create something softer and more cinematic, where permitted.
We'll choose a setting that complements both your horse and the photographs you want.
03 — We take our time
Horses have opinions.
And that's one of the reasons I love photographing them. We won't rush through a list of poses just because we've allocated an hour to the session. If your horse needs a moment, they get a moment. If something isn't working, we'll change it. If they suddenly give us the expression?
We take the photograph. The session follows the horse.
04 — We photograph the personality
I'll guide you when necessary, but I'm also watching.
The ears. The eyes. The movement. The interaction between you. The little moments that happen naturally. Sometimes I'll ask you to move into a particular position. Other times I'll simply let you interact with your horse while I photograph what happens.
You don't need to know how to pose. That's my job.
05 — We create photographs you'll want to keep
The final gallery shouldn't feel like a collection of technically good horse photographs.
It should feel like your horse. Their personality. Their presence. Your relationship. Your story. The photographs you frame. The ones you put on your phone.
The ones you eventually look at years later and immediately remember exactly how it felt.
What should you prepare for your horse photography session?
You don't need to turn your horse into a show horse before a photography session.
But a little preparation can make everything easier.
Before the session:
Give your horse a good groom.
Make sure their coat, mane and tail are looking how you'd like them photographed.
Pack treats.
Especially if your horse has a particular favourite.
Bring water.
Abu Dhabi heat means hydration matters.
Bring patience.
This one is probably the most important. Your horse doesn't need to be perfect. They just need to show up. I'll take care of the rest.
What if my horse won't stand still?

Then we work with that.
Some horses are naturally patient. Some are curious. Some are energetic. Some would like to investigate every single object within a five-kilometre radius. That's normal.
Rather than spending the entire session trying to force a horse into one position, I'll use movement, pauses, interaction and different approaches to create photographs.
A moving horse can make an incredible photograph.
What if my horse is nervous?
We'll slow down.
The priority is always your horse's wellbeing. I'll work with your horse's temperament rather than expecting them to immediately feel comfortable with a camera, new location or unfamiliar situation. If they need time to settle, that's part of the session. If something makes them uncomfortable, we change it.
No photograph is worth making your horse miserable.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do horse photography sessions take place?
Sessions can take place at your stable, at suitable outdoor locations around Abu Dhabi, in the desert, or at other locations depending on the type of session and current access regulations.
We'll choose the location together based on your horse and the photographs you're looking for.
Do you photograph horses of all breeds?
Yes.
I love photographing all kinds of horses. From Arabians and Thoroughbreds to sport horses, ponies and everything in between. Your horse doesn't need to fit a particular breed or aesthetic. If you love them, they're worth photographing.
Do you photograph black horses?
Absolutely.
Black horses can create some of the most dramatic and beautiful portraits when photographed with the right light and approach.
Can I be photographed with my horse?
Yes and I highly recommend it. Your relationship is part of their story.
Can you photograph horses in action?
Yes.
Action and equestrian photography can include riding, jumping, dressage, galloping, training and other movement-based photographs.
Can you photograph at my stable?
Yes.
Stable sessions are a beautiful option if your horse is happiest in their familiar environment or if you want photographs that document the everyday part of your life together.
Can you photograph equestrian competitions and events?
Yes.
Event photography can include action, horse and rider portraits, behind-the-scenes moments and the atmosphere of the day.
Do I need to know how to pose?
No.
I'll guide you.
You don't need to be comfortable in front of a camera or know what to do with your hands.
What if my horse is difficult?
There is no such thing as a horse who has to be perfectly behaved for photographs.
We'll work with their personality, energy and comfort level.
What should I wear for a horse & owner session?
Choose something you feel comfortable and confident in, while keeping the overall look complementary to your horse and location.
If you're unsure, I'll happily help you choose.
When is the best time for an outdoor horse photography session in Abu Dhabi?
Timing depends on the season, temperature, location and the type of photographs we're creating.
Outdoor sessions are generally planned around more comfortable temperatures and beautiful natural light.
We'll work out the best timing when planning your session.
How do I book a horse photography session in Abu Dhabi?
Get in touch and tell me about your horse, where you're based, and what you're hoping to create.
We'll talk through the possibilities and find the right session for you.
Horse Photography Gallery
The horses behind the photographs.
Arabians. Sport horses. Black horses. Young horses. Old souls. Horses with endless energy. Horses who would rather stand quietly beside their person. Beautifully trained athletes. And horses who have absolutely no interest in following the plan.
Every horse has a story. I want to photograph yours.

"I absolutely love the photos! Sarah is incredibly talented, passionate, and made me feel at ease throughout the entire session. Definitely worth repeating."

"Sarah has a unique gift for capturing the bond between horse and owner. Her approach is different, the quality is outstanding, and the memories are priceless."
One day, your horse will be part of your past.
Make sure you have photographs that bring them back.
One day, the stable will be quieter. The tack room will look different. The routine will change. And you'll realise that the little things you thought you'd remember forever are becoming harder to picture. The way they looked at you. The sound of them walking towards you. The movement of their mane. The feeling of resting your hand against their neck. The ridiculous little habits that only you knew.
Photographs can't stop time.
But they can give you a way back to it. So don't wait for the perfect horse. Don't wait until they're perfectly groomed. Don't wait until you've lost a little weight. Don't wait until you're a better rider. Don't wait until everything is exactly how you imagined it. Photograph them now. Because this horse. This relationship. This chapter. It only exists once.
Let's photograph your story.
Whether you want timeless horse portraits, photographs with your horse, dramatic black horse photography, action and equestrian images, a stable session or an outdoor shoot in Abu Dhabi, we'll create something that feels personal to you.
Your horse doesn't need to pose perfectly.
You don't need to know how to pose.
You just need to bring the horse you love.
I'll bring the camera — and we'll create the memories.
